Telemarketing-- What you are told and what truly is...

I can't speak for all telemarketers experiences nor can I speak for all companies all I can say is what I experienced and what I saw at the company I worked at.

FIRST: DO NOT CALL LIST HAS A LOT OF LOOP HOLES--and people will run through the loopholes.
-If you ever gave to charity or organization they than will place you on a list as a once given can ask for funds again. They then have the right to call and ask for more money

-You must specify Place me on your DO NOT CALL List (The latest trick at the company had us asked the person would they rather be on the RESTRICTED CALL LIST. That gave them a chance to call 30 days from the request. I don't know how they got around that one or how they could do something that low down. Some places will make the "caller" verify the phone number. NO we do not know who we called. The computer does all the calling. We do not even have a device to enter phone numbers in our system. So please know that we cannot control what numbers we call. When we indicated on the computer that they wished to be put on a no call list. I was told by someone that it takes up to 30 days for the "lists" to be "updated" and believe me we the "callers" knew that you people where getting 4 or 6 calls a day but we where told that our "file" would be recycle on a 24 hour period BUT if the company had 6 different company offices and 8 different rooms calling for said charity or organization we probably did call but it just wasn't the person you are yelling at that you just called an hour ago or 4 hours ago or whatever.

- Bottom line It is all computerized we have very little control of how many times a call is made or WHAT call is made. It is all computerized and we are told to press certain buttons on the computer screen as to it makes a differnece I honestly can't say.

As I was saying earlier--Once you give to an organization your name goes on a list. So say you give to organization A in 2010 and two different times in 2011 you may be on 3 lists. So if the company I called for was given this list of 25000 names we would call for let's say 6 days got as many people to donate than said organization A might give us another list to call and that may have your name on it twice OR it could have your name once but so did list number one. This is also why you will have repeat calls as well.

Also I remember times we where calling for an organization and we where told by supervisors that file is a good one. People are eager to give. Turns out a lot of the info in this "file" was outdated. So no we do not know that your father died 10 years ago because you may have told people who called 5 years ago that he was dead BUT that might have been done by another company So yes, organization use various telemarketing companies so sometimes we can't know if the organzation didn't update records from their last drive or calling.

PLEASE--We do not have control of calling--The computer does it and IF a supervisor is either trying to find something for us to do or is eager to get files going they will than start calls too early. We are allowed to make calls from 9am - 9pm in the eveing. But that is your time. So They divide files up by east coast Central and Mountain and West coast so mistakes do happen and the "caller" doesn't know who the computer is dialing for them so no we don't know "what time it is" when we call you. ALSO think about vonage --you can take that phone number whereever you go so if we have said address for you in the east but you move to California and the organization has your old address with the number you took...yeah you may get a call at 8am.

(Hope that helps out a little. Will give more info if you want. such as the "Perferred customer scam-okay I consider it a scam-or any other questions feel free to ask)
