How Come McConnell And Boehner Aren't Embarrassed By Their Lack Of Getting Anything Done In Congress

under their leadership. It seems to me that our Senators and House Representatives run for office in order to help the people of their state and Americans in general. Why would any elected representative want to have a legacy where it reflects badly on their leadership or on their term in office that they got nothing done?

Wouldn't they want to be remembered for all they did for their constituents or Americans versus - all of what they didn't accomplish because they played partisan politics?

It just doesn't make sense to me that any elected official would want to go down in history as being an obstructionist.

I'm sorry - I just don't get it. I would be embarrassed to show my face in public if I knew that the public was perceiving me as a negative force in our government.

Equally stupid and I don't get either - is how these obstructionist keep getting re-elected.

If I was Obama now - I would make it a point at every opportunity I had to name names and single out the obstructionists in our Congress. All Dems in the Senate and the House should be echoing the President and every chance they get they should do the same thing and single out all of these obstructionists.

Bottom line - I think most Americans are seeing these obstructionists for what they are. Just obstructing everything that is proposed by this President - just because they can and they don't want to see him as being successful.

The fixes that this country needs - on the economy, jobs, infrastructure, energy, eduction, etc - are very clear. This is not rocket science. We have a way of making everything better. However - the obstructionists in Washington D.C. are clearly sabotaging and killing every idea.

You wanna talk paid shills? They are that on steroids and viagra. They are banking serious millions of $$$ for giving up their human-ness and becoming corporate bots.

After watching the pendulum of outrage swing from Clinton's impeachment over a blow job to where crimes against peace and torture are no big deal, it is not surprising.

That is why social media has become more of a force in this country.
We don't need the news filtered by rightwing pundits and news anchors.

That's why 67% of today's younger voters rely on the opinions of their friends rather than listen to the the mainstream media tell them anything about the issues.
They rely on their friends to tell them the truth about an issue or a politician.

They are there to obstruct and to tear down. Boehner openly acknowledged this recently. I think the news piece was making the rounds here last week. They consider it their job to undo existing laws and prevent new legislation from being passed.

It reminds me of the broad trend toward profit generation by acquiring and destroying existing companies rather than making anything new, in the business world. I've wondered if this is their real-world expression of Atlas shrugging, with the rich and powerful and their lackeys refusing to add new value to society, dedicating themselves to demolition instead. But there's probably no conspiracy there. Just greed and viciousness. When I'm feeling really paranoid, I convince myself that the powerful have gotten together and decided that they need to force massive population reduction by destroying functional societies, sort of like the Dominionists think they are obligated to disrupt the world to help their prophecies play out. But... paranoid. I am an overly imaginative worrywart.

Redistricting has caused "safe" Democratic and Republicon districts, where the mission of each side is to prevent or undo what the other side does. Read a good article on Politico yesterday where the Rethugs wisely spent money on winning state legislatures back in 2010 to be able to take advantage of census data to slant the playing field in their direction.

They seem very good at thinking strategically and taking advantage of the situation. Is it their 'think tanks' that help them in this type of strategic thinking and planning?

Andrea Mitchell did a segment a while back on how Obama doesn't shmooze enough and that's the reason our government is dysfunctional. Bullshit. Not one mention of the GOP's obstructionism or extremism.

Their organizational structure is autocratic. Their base is composed of 'no-nothings' who are hurt by the elected repugs' inaction, but are gleeful about the obstruction of the agenda of the side they failed to effectively oppose in national elections. Vindictive stupidity: "The American public hates us and our party's ideas, so we're not going to let the side they voted for fix the problems created by us and our ideas."

The top of the structure is their money people, who are very well served by nothing happening as long as the other party is in power. So Boehner and McConnell are serving the people who count in their autocratic power structure, and the ignorant yahoo base cheers them on while their inactions hurt even that same base's interests.

our nastiest instincts.'

One example from the time: he changed the ratio of college grants to loans\work-study from 75% - 25% into 25% - 75%, with a strategy of justifying it by telling blue collar people like cab-drivers 'why should you pay for that college kid's education?', instead of telling that cab driver 'My plan means your kid will never go to college.' It was a successful strategy that played to the people who were pre-disposed to be bitter, envious, hateful, spiteful, and short sighted. In terms of the good of our nation, our national competitiveness in the world market, and our national security, Saint Ronnie's destruction of the means to nurture our country's \ our peoples' brain power was terrible. But it did help the parasitic banking industry make big money with gov subsidized student loans, and made sure that any graduates were on an extremely short leash, because when you have huge loans to pay off, you aren't going to make any waves in any job you manage to secure.

Their ignorant base is like the crabs in a pot who pull the other crabs, trying to climb out, back in. Our side is certainly right. There have been recent attempts to reach that ignorant base on Obamacare that parallel telling that cab driver 'you're hurting your own kid'. I saw poll results that showed that the public agreed with the elimination of exclusion of coverage for pre-existing conditions, the 80% service to 20% overhead rule, the coverage of insured kids through college, etc., as long as the word 'Obamacare' wasn't included in the description. They agree with every particular reform of the med insurance industry, as long as the repug tainted name isn't used as a descriptor.

It's unfortunate we have to be so hard-working and creative to reach their base, so the base will support their own self interests, but we're fighting the big money right wingers and their massive corporate media bullhorn.
