This is how the 1% get theirs....
COLUMBUS Former Ohio State University president Gordon Gee, who retired under a cloud after remarks jabbing Roman Catholics and Southeastern Conference schools, will receive a $5.8 million package over the next five years, along with an office, a secretary and a premium parking pass, the university said Monday.
The contract with Gee includes a one-time payment of $1.5 million, an annual salary of $410,000 and a $300,000 annual grant for research on 21st-century education policy. It also retains him as a full professor in the universitys College of Law, pays him health insurance and covers moving and storage expenses.
The deal also will cover the cost of tax preparation and penalties Gee incurred as a result of corrections the university made in reporting his income for 2009, 2010 and 2011....

(32,084 posts)...in my state, the football coaches of the two major state universities make at least that much. Meanwhile, people here bitch about the cost of tuition, while encouraging the state to cut funding to higher education. And, they have no problem with their tax dollars being used to make a couple of fucking football coaches multi-millionaires. It's the same thing in our neighboring states, and their neighbors, too, right on down the line. Talk about "fucked up", and it won't change as long as people are fine with this kind of shit.

(32,084 posts)...a university president makes more than the President of the United States. Yeah, I know the POTUS has all sorts of perks no one else has. But, he has millions of times more responsibilities and stresses. It's warped. Even more warped when the athletic coaches make even more than either of the presidents. And, people can spout on all they want about how the athletic programs bring attention and revenue to the universities. But, all that attention and money the sports bring in does very little for the academics. Yeah, a relative handful of students get scholarships, but most students to get squat out of it. Most of it gets rolled right back into the football and basketball programs.
