As Edward Snowden inches towardasylum in Russia, one fact is becoming clear: He is a modern dayBenedict Arnold. Born and raised in America, both men held positions meant to bolster U.S. national security. However, disillusioned with the political system, they came to seeAmerica's adversaries as their salvation. Seeking out positions of trust, they collected sensitive intelligence, which they then divulged. Bothfled to hostile nations as the U.S. government hunted them. Whatever justifications we concoct to explain their actions, Snowden and Arnold betrayed their country."

No, it wasn't Snowden who betrayed us. It was a U.S. press with it's nose stuck so far up the ass of Washington that they STOPPED DOING THEIR JOB!!!
The GUTS to print this shit!

(5,756 posts)None, NONE, of the major US media outlets are going to jeopardize their cozy relationship with the DC elites. Not to mention the possibility of getting charged under the espionage act.

(29,503 posts)You obviously have to have to domestic source, as well, but for most stories, I prefer their impartial coverage.
+1 to your post. Our domestic news establishment is constituted with almost nothing but sycophants and courtiers.

(5,756 posts)That's probably why so many of the elite in DC and the media are afraid of Al Jazeera coming to the US and are panning it so hard before it even gets on air.

(29,503 posts)It's remarkable to me how sometimes I talk with people on this board, and we all seem to get how the US media really operates; and then, when we talk with - for example - colleagues, family members, friends, it seems like they have all drunk the koolaid. LOL

(11,489 posts)Snowden was a low-level security analyst who exposed government wrongdoing and got nothing in return.
What Snowden did was much less significant than when Orrin Hatch blurted out that we were monitoring Bin Laden's phone calls.
If Snowden is a traitor, Hatch should be arrested too.

(5,756 posts)Right on all counts.
The MSM is just slandering Snowden to make it easier for the government. I don't believe it's an organized conspiracy to do so but rather, just an institutional habit now.

(15,071 posts)country? I don't know that he did but I question your assertion that he didn't. It's very possible since a lot of organizations would like to know the inner workings of the NSA.

(10,362 posts)Sure, why not!
Why did it take Snowden to tell us what's going on instead of USA Today, a supposed newspaper? Oh that's right, USA Today is an arm of the government.
Go bankrupt soon, prehistoric print media.
