Fingerprint File

The Rolling Stones published the following in 1974:

"Fingerprint File"

Fingerprint file, you get me down
You keep me running
Know my way around. Yes, you do, child

Fingerprint file, you bring me down
Keep me running
You keep me on the ground

Know my moves
Way ahead of time
Listening to me
On your satellite

Feeling followed
Feeling tagged
Crossing water
Trying to wipe my tracks

And there's some little jerk in the FBI
A keepin' papers on me six feet high
It gets me down, it gets me down, it gets me down

You better watch out
On your telephone
Wrong number
They know you ain't home

And there's some little jerk in the FBI
A keepin' papers on me six feet high
It gets me down, it gets me down, it gets me down

Who's the man on the corner; that corner over there
I-I-I don't know. Well, you better lay low. Watch out

Keep on the look out
Electric eyes
Rats on the sell out
Who gonna testify
You know my habits
Way a head of time
Listening to me
On your satellite

And there's some little jerk in the FBI
A keepin' papers on me six feet high
It gets me down, it gets me down, it gets me down
It gets me down

Hello, baby, mm-hmm
Ah, yeah, you know we ain't, we ain't talkin' alone
Who's listening? But I don't really know
But you better tell the SIS to keep out of sight
'Cause I know they takin' pictures on the ultraviolet light

Yes, uh huh, yeah, but these days it's all secrecy; and no privacy
Shoot first, that' s right... you know
Bye bye. Who's listening?
Right now somebody is listening to you
Keeping their eyes peeled on you

Mmm, mmm, what a price, what a price to pay
All right. Good night. Sleep tight.

1. I've actually listened to that a number of times lately...

Mick wrote that when John Lennon was fighting to stay in the US, and all those guys figured out how closely they were being watched. Might be the only "great" song on that album.

The work was prescient. Then, just a few years later, John would be taken from us a month and a half before Reagan and the "former" CIA director would be sworn in as head and vice pretzels.

...but I've always thought that "Mark David Chapman" was a pilot program, a test to see if the new breed of MKULTRA "lone assassin" was ready to roll out, because they knew they were gonna "do" Reagan shortly after he was inaugurated. And of course, with the added benefit of throwing the left into a tizzy, so they wouldn't mind when the "drug-store truck drivin' man" got whacked. But then you know your BFEE...

Wait... what were we talking about again?
Oh yeah, that's right:

Funny you mention Nutopia...

I just happened to see at the time, the Nutopian Embassy at 1 White Street in Manhattan, sold last month for $4.2 million. It was bought by something called Snack Addicts LLC.

Meh...

7. Secret Meeting (The National)

I think this place is full of spies
I think they're on to me
Didn't anybody, didn't anybody tell you
how to gracefully disappear in a room?
I know you put in the hours to keep me in sunglasses, I know.

And so and now I'm sorry I missed you
I had a secret meeting in the basement of my brain
It went the dull and wicked ordinary way
And now I'm sorry I missed you
I had a secret meeting in the basement of my brain

I think this place is full of spies
I think I'm ruined
Didn't anybody, didn't anybody tell you
didn't anybody tell you this river's full of lost sharks
I know you put in the hours to keep me in sunglasses, I know

And so and now I'm sorry I missed you
I had a secret meeting in the basement of my brain
It went the dull and wicked ordinary way
It went the dull and wicked ordinary way

And now I'm sorry I missed you
I had a secret meeting in the basement of my brain
And now I'm sorry I missed you
I had a secret meeting in the basement of my brain.
