(47,675 posts)Just sayin'.
But yes, I completely oppose the "dildo scanner" bill. That's insult to injury to a rape victim and offensive to any woman anyway.

(26,549 posts)Not a lawyer, but I believe the "implied consent" laws of all states say unconscious people are assumed to have consented to any medical procedure that the medical professional deems necessary to save their life. Assuming a next-of-kin is not available to consent.
Way back during my first aid training the way we were taught to deal with people who refused treatment but obviously needed treatment (say, gushing blood) was to wait until they fall unconscious. The unconsciousness is a new symptom, and with that you are allowed to assume they would have asked for treatment if they could.

(47,675 posts)I was in intensive care for a while and then the "loony bin" lock-down section and finally in a "almost loony bin" section. She still had to approve everything. But if they wanted to probe my vagina, I assume my wife would have said no on the grounds that I don't HAVE a vagina. But they did stick a catheter up my John Thomas and I tried to rip it out a few times. Weird drugs.

(16,201 posts)In most states, a person can refuse medical care as long as they are conscious. Once they pass out, the medical team can swoop in and save their life.

(47,675 posts)There were three security guards and about a dozen other people standing around watching while I had a discussion with my (very rational) wife. She agreed that she wouldn't allow any more procedures and I agreed to go back upstairs to be discharged. They tried to take my blood pressure and I refused. She backed me up. On a previous stay a year before, I told her "no more pain killers" and she agreed. They were just getting too weird.
The only thing I know of that violated her instructions was my last visit. She told them what hospital I wanted (about 2 miles away from the nearest) and they said they were required to go to the nearest if I hit a critical point (which I did), so they took me to the hospital that had previously lost me. My wife AND the attending doctor had no idea where I was and it was about an hour later, "remember Alice? This is a song about Alice", that they finally found me. I don't like that hospital.
