That is, that a majority of Republicans must support a bill before it can be brought to the floor for a vote. That is probably one of the most stupid "rules" ever made.
Just as the "Speaker of the House" is supposed to be the Speaker for the whole House, then he, in all sense of fairness, must bring forth bills that are of concern to the people and let the whole House vote on it. Otherwise, it is blatant partisanship beyond the pale of acceptance.
I suppose this gives our esteemed Leader more time to work on his golf game and his tan, but it does nothing to help anybody else in America. He is shirking his duties in the most despicable and arrogant manner.
There are some "New Democrats" that are going to bring an immigration bill to the floor if nothing is done by the end of September. The Democrats, the Republicans, and all Americans cannot wait on this Speaker to do anything that needs to be done. He listens to the most radical of the Tea Party bunch that has committed a legislative coup with the Congress of the United States.

(111,056 posts)and play his little political game, and head back to the golf course. Nothing ever gets done because of the "Hastert rule". Voters did not vote for Democrats for them to not have a voice, even if they are in the minority. Somebody needs to have a "come to Jesus" meeting with Mr Boehner...
