Re the worldwide travel alert: Question for fellow DUers living/travelling abroad

How seriously are you taking the latest worldwide travel alert?

http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/pa/pa_6042.html

My answer. I live abroad in a Muslim majority country and will be #3ing.

(There's still room for 2 more and I'll add them when/if other responses I haven't added are posted)

You don't have to answer if you don;t want to, I only ask because I can relate.

I traveled by plane during the 1991 Gulf War (it broke out while I was in Japan with a group of students) and a couple of months after 9/11.

In both cases, the planes were blissfully uncrowded and relaxing.

I decided that a terrorism scare was a great time to travel by plane because all the scaredy cats stay at home.

But I'm technically a long term visitor, I guess. I do intend to move back home within the next couple of years or so.

We went out and did the usual things we do on a saturday; beach, a bit of shopping and eating out. I was having so much fun I actually totally forgot all about the warnings, lol.

I'm more likely to be attacked by a rabid sheep. I'm 150 miles away from anyplace that's likely to be the target of terrorist attacks (that'd be London), and a thousand miles away from anyplace likely to harbour a significant Al Qaeda presence.

Everyone knows that everyone, even terrorists likes us, though I will be extra vigilant and on the lookout for terrorism when I'm in New Zealand!
