(48,217 posts)I traveled by plane during the 1991 Gulf War (it broke out while I was in Japan with a group of students) and a couple of months after 9/11.
In both cases, the planes were blissfully uncrowded and relaxing.
I decided that a terrorism scare was a great time to travel by plane because all the scaredy cats stay at home.

(89,244 posts)position or even somewhere else that is known to be american in a place where terrorist attacks are not that uncommon i might be more careful/worried.
so do you live overseas or are you visiting ?

(22,109 posts)But I'm technically a long term visitor, I guess. I do intend to move back home within the next couple of years or so.
We went out and did the usual things we do on a saturday; beach, a bit of shopping and eating out. I was having so much fun I actually totally forgot all about the warnings, lol.

(21,786 posts)I'm more likely to be attacked by a rabid sheep. I'm 150 miles away from anyplace that's likely to be the target of terrorist attacks (that'd be London), and a thousand miles away from anyplace likely to harbour a significant Al Qaeda presence.
