Congress Takes Another (5 week) Vacation While Nation’s Business Awaits

There was a mad dash in Washington today: members of Congress streaming out of the Capitol, grabbing their bags and heading to the airport for a five-week vacation.

They left without passing some big pieces of the country’s business, including a budget.
Some citizens vacationing in the nation’s capitol said they can’t believe it.

“When you are at work, you are working until you are all done, then you go on
vacation,” Bernadette Simmons said.

“If I don’t have my budget together in my own household, I can’t go on vacation,” Wayne Valaris of San Francisco said.

“I think five weeks is a little excessive for them, with so much of what they have to do,” Caroline Eliss of Arizona said. “The average working man gets two weeks vacation. That’s more than enough.”

Sure, there's the current 5-week break. And their spring break. And their Christmas break. And their "fact finding" junkets. And their 3-day-a-week schedule when they DO manage to show up.

And some of them have the nerve to talk about "Welfare Queens"...

Occasionally, the poor overworked darlings might squeeze in a fourth day if there's something really critical to be taken care of -- like the no-doubt-upcoming 41st vote to repeal Obamacare.

And what with summer school, I have less time off than that. Of course, every single member of Congress makes far more than I ever will, and did so before ever getting elected.

I think it's nice, but not overly-generous. And I doubt Congressfolk actually go to the beach all that time - they do in fact have work to do in their districts.

Their 2013 schedule is 126 working days. Does anyone think they earn their pay, benefits, and endless perks ????

What a travesty !!!!!

The majority of our elected officials are corrupt and self serving.

Our justice system is anything but just.

Wall Street is a money laundering ponzi scheme, that our insider trading Congress and their staff take full advantage of. This includes the vast amount of money made from the drug trade and controlling the commodities market.

The military brass has all of them by the short hairs. As of July 1st, 2013 it is legal for the military to use propaganda.

Income inequality is at an all time high for this country.

Incarceration is at an all time high for this country.

It sickens me.

Our Constitutional Scholar of a POTUS should use his full Presidential authority.

The People would have his back if he did.

Show some courage Mr President.
