Notice how he mentions meeting with the Indian Army head. India will be used to contain China. They're big enough to do it. It's also why Afghanistan continues to be important: Pakistan wants the Taliban back in, as they are allied with them. We back Karzai because he's not as close to Pakistan, and that's important to India. Understand India's role and you understand everything going on over there re the US strategy.
So, we don't need a policy of containment. We have India to do that for us.
