My belated opinion on this weekend's terror threat

First, I've been busy for the last several days, and unable to really post anything, much less my thoughts on this issue. But I've been considering it from time to time, and it all smells wrong.

So for the last couple months, we've been talking about the over-reach of the NSA. They come out and try to tell us that the NSA programs have stopped dozens of attacks. But the specific examples they give, all turn out to be lies. The House comes very close to defunding one of the programs, and public opinion continues to build against the NSA and the Intelligence Industrial Complex.

Then out of the blue, for the first time in years, we have a grab your ass and hold on because we have vague but specific threats in our ongoing war on terror. So when it is a real threat, like the shoe bomber, the underwear bomber, the Boston Bombers, the Times Square Bombers, or a lunatic Major in the Army at Fort. Hood, we don't know anything about anything. So now, out of the blue, in what even the most determined defenders of the NSA have to admit is the greatest coincidence of all time. We have a specifically vague threat that there are shadowy forces out there determined to destroy us. Thank Bob we have the NSA on the lookout for these shadowy forces, because without them we'd have been attacked with no warning.

It smells like a set up, a bunch of baloney. Now, before you claim I am suggesting that President Obama is orchestrating it, I'd remind you that Project Venona was kept from President Franklin D. Roosevelt and President Truman. The only reason they didn't bother with President Eisenhower was he already knew from when he was the Supreme Allied Commander European Theater.

But it is a set up, it has to be. The enemy who has to be smart enough to know that if they went quiet would almost certainly see the plans to infiltrate them via communications curtailed. Instead they start doing the dumbest thing possible?

Friends, it's a set up, a move like Bush Co. whipping up the perpetual fear to keep us in line and not questioning the excessive actions they took. We have specific chatter than one of our embassies is in danger, and we advise the American People to spend the weekend in butt puckering terror. I mean, the Government told us to do everything but stock up on canned food for the break down of civilization that is bound to happen any moment now. Do not travel, do not speak to any foreigners. Do not read any foreign news papers. Do not trust anyone who does not have an American Flag in the lapel of their jackets. Stay home, under the bed, and pray that we're good enough to protect you from all the dangerous stuff out there.

to justify more secrecy and more spending? The real threat is that government largess to Booz-Allen-Carlyle may dry up.
