Venice Beach is the second biggest tourist attraction in S. California.
People from all over the world come here, especially in the summer.
My neighbors were there and spent most of last night talking to investigators.
This is horrible.
However, if this maniac had done this today, it may have been worse since today is the Hare Krishna Festival of the Chariots, which always draws a lot of people to Venice.
BTW, the woman killed was apparently on her honeymoon.
So sad.

He described Gruppioni as "strong" but also "sensitive" and "emotional." He added: "What has happened is a tragedy."

(20,605 posts)There is video of this guy doing this.
From what witnesses have said, he seemed determined to hit as many people as he could.
My neighbors, who were there and saw him start this rampage, said it was utter pandemonium there.
Watch how he gets in the car and just guns it...

Years ago, an elderly man drove thru the Santa Monica Farmer's Market.
During the criminal trial, Weller's attorney had argued that his client lost control of his car after he mistook the accelerator for the brake. However, the sentencing judge said Weller "showed enormous indifference" and "unbelievable callousness."

It was determined that he was actually fleeing the scene of a minor accident.
