Meta-Data Collection: Call Logs? Try Kilowatts Too

Reports Reveal Demands for California Energy Data

Amid recent revelations that the NSA has been secretly spying on phone records and the Internet activity of people in the United States, transparency reports filed by the California utilities companies and obtained by the ACLU of California show that a significant amount of data about the energy use of Californians is also ending up in the hands of third parties. In 2012, a single California utility company, San Diego Gas & Electric, disclosed the smart meter energy records of over 4,000 of its customers.

Total Information Awareness means the capability of constructing a complete activity/psychological profile of every individual from meta-data collected from a variety of corporate sources.

Fascism is the marriage of private corporations and the state. This is more than a trend. Are there also data collection devices and firmware installed in our automobiles, personal computers and media recording devices? I'm guessing - probably.

I can tell from the bill which days last month we filled my little girl's plastic wading pool and which three days we were out of town.

There's no way you could grow weed in your house without someone knowing just by reading your utility bill.
