Texas Rangers pitcher Matt Garza is not very good at fielding sacrifice bunts. The Oakland Athletics decided to exploit this weakness Saturday in the seventh inning, as Eric Sogard laid down a squeeze bunt — his second successful bunt of the day and the Athletics’ fourth of the game — to drive home Alberto Callaspo and increase the A’s lead to 4-2. Garza was furious, stared down Sogard as he ran past and yelled something in his direction. Garza claims he asked “if there were any good places to eat in Oakland?” As the Dallas Morning News notes, it isn’t likely Garza asked that exact question, as the Rangers stay in San Francisco when playing the Athletics. Sogard’s wife, Kaycee, was ecstatic with the bunt.
