Guy deliberately mowed down people on the boardwalk killing one and injuring several persons.

Authorities Sunday identified the suspect arrested in the deadly Venice Beach boardwalk hit-and-run as a 38-year-old man.

Nathan Louis Campbell was booked on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of a woman killed Saturday evening after a crash along the popular tourist hub, according to KNX 1070′s Ed Mertz. Campbell’s bail was set at $1 million.

The deceased was identified by coroner’s investigator Kristy McCracken as 32-year-old Alice Gruppioni of Italy, according to City News Service. CBS2 has not been able to independently confirm the victim’s identity. An autopsy on the victim’s body is pending.

About an hour after the accident, police said the suspect walked into a police station in Santa Monica and surrendered.

Witnesses said a driver purposely and methodically plowed into crowds of people on the Venice Boardwalk Saturday evening killing at least one person.

At least eight other people sustained minor injuries.

Witnesses told police the driver seemed to be in control of the vehicle.

Louisa Hodge, reporting for KCAL9, said witnesses told her the driver seemed to be deliberately trying to hit people.

I love to walk along Venice Beach when I go visit my daughter in Marina del Rey. In fact, I'm going to be down there in about three weeks. I'm glad they caught this nut job.

9. Reminds me of George Weller

Killed 10, injured 60 plowing his car into the Santa Monica Farmer's Market. Said he got the gas and brake pedal confused, but others said he was screaming, "get out of my way!" and avoiding obstacles as he killed people with his car.
