Wow, University of California, Berkeley football coach Sonny Dykes just is either clueless or greedy or both:
Can anyone say DUMMY Dykes?
Local sportswriter Scott Ostler stomped down this stupid claim:
And, Sonny, next time you're teeing it up at the Claremont Country Club, look around and see how many Cal profs are there on their free memberships.

(23,664 posts)Compared to a douchebag like Sonny Dykes, they're basically minimum wage slaves.
I'm usually proud to say I'm a Cal graduate. Not today even though I had nothing to do with hiring this POS.

I have a relative who is a professor at a prestigious private university in the south. He visited us over the holidays a few years ago and one night over drinks he more or less fessed up to what a great gig he had. He may not have a six month vacation like Coach Numbnuts thinks, but he spends very little time in the classroom, gets teaching assistants to handle the lower level survey and introduction courses he is listed as teaching, takes a sabbatical every 7 years, and spends a lot of time writing or collaborating on books, most of the income from which he pockets. He was sort of coy about what he makes, but from other things he said, we guessed his salary at the university was in the neighborhood of $200k annually. He did make a half assed attempt to defend it by reminding us he was a student living on ramen noodles until age 30 but he knew we weren't really buying that.
I'd be willing to bet there are a whole bunch of Americans who'd be happy to trade places with him.

(8,879 posts)a teaching school that is the second largest in the state of Wisconsin, the political science department including the chair each make around 50-60k per year for tenured professors. They have to research and publish, the teach internationally, and they all seem to take turns in 100 level courses. I'm sure the Ivy league profs are compensated considerably higher, but for most professors, while yes, they have a good job, it isn't exactly a cakewalk lined with hundred dollar bills.
