I recently watched a film about that march 50 years ago. The number of people who showed up was astounding. But I wonder even with all the technology we have now to notify people and spread the word more quickly than ever before -- if we can even get the same number of people to show up again for another march on Washington now.
Even with the speed at which we are moving backwards as a nation, so many people seem to have checked out of activism, not realizing that participating in U.S. society doesn't just mean working, voting and paying taxes (and an occasional stint as a juror) but also involves PARTICIPATING and making your VOICE HEARD, especially when moneyed interests seek to silence them by taping their dollars over our collective mouths.
How many do you think will show?

The National Action Network is very involved:
You can help to pass the info along via Facebook.
There are ministries that are going to come to DC. This is one example.
We need more people to come to DC. I would like very much if more people would advocate for this event. This is a very big deal.
Thank you for mentioning it. I give this a very happy :kick: Events like this are what we need especially NOW.

(46,179 posts)It's "takes a great deal of money some of us don't have to travel to DC."
In the current economic slough, how many can afford to do so? I can't.
