(256 posts)America love it or leave it. I guess bothering to stick around to try to change it is not an option.

(25,348 posts)"Why do I have to pay taxes to support the schools when I chose to not have kids"
I shan't bore you as you know the comebacks.
But it gets old "Schooling" these people.

(34,136 posts)Who is working as a teacher! My premise was that if the children of today are not educated, my future will be in peril since those children will have no way to support themselves as adults. His attitude is that since he has no children, he shouldn't have to pay to educate them.
He ignored the fact that he is attempting to make a living as a teacher. He bailed out of a job with the public school system after he antagonized the kids so much one threatened his life. Now he's working for a private for profit charter school, beginning with the next school year. I doubt he will last out the school year this time, either.

(34,136 posts)He's an acquaintance of my husband's who's known him for decades. He's the only person my husband knows that I will not talk to. I stopped conversing with him in 2009 when he kept trying to pick fights with me about President Obama. He is exactly the wrong kind of person to be involved in educating children, especially since his own education is deficient.
Aside from pure self interest educating the next generation is good for our country. And it's the right thing to do.

employees' hours and give others pink slips and then they announce plans

It's a fuckin high school football field. And apparently they didn't do it sooner because two others needed their artificial turf replaced sooner. Arts? Science? Who cares?

(36,457 posts)It's a display of brightly colored empty boxes. You 'purchase' a box & the proceeds go to some fund to buy schools supplies, supposedly for your local schools.
When I was a kid, we paid taxes for that. Now we pay taxes to bail out the bansters & never ending war & if we want our kids to have school supplies we have to funnel that money through a corporation.
The fundies think it's the feminists & gays that have ruined the country when really its love of money, combined with an "everything for profit" model.
