"I honestly think the most disappointing thing is that racism is making a resurgence," Van Gundy said on our critically acclaimed Open Mike radio show. "I think it's getting worse for whatever reason. I thought we were making a little bit of progress for a while, but I don't feel that way anymore. I feel like it's getting worse and becoming almost more acceptable for people to have these (racist) attitudes. It's not surprising but very disappointing."
After watching the country divide along racial lines after the George Zimmerman verdict, Van Gundy makes a sad but salient point. Especially in the wake of Cooper, an NFL player who publicly and angrily used a racial slur for all the world to see and hear.
