I'd rather live the simple life. You're welcome.
Long before this blew up I remember asking DUers for information on Stanford because I found his cricket interest way too strange and then he had one of the NFL Manning guys as a guest at his cricket tournament and he was streaming the tournament in Colorado of all places.

Indeed! It's so much . . . . . simpler.

Stanford will now perhaps appreciate that simplicity. I'm sure his life is decidedly and deservedly more simple than it used to be.

I almost never watch television at all, and I don't really have the time for it anyway. But there was something very compelling about this. I had followed the Stanford thing here on DU, and of course Madoff before that and Enron and all the others.

And you're correct -- they don't believe they were robbing anyone. They either believed their own lies, or they believed they were entitled to the money. And that's pretty much the definition of a sociopath, isn't it?

Yet we have all these banksters, the Wells Fargoes and the B of As and the Countrywides and the JP Morgan Chases, and they're doing the same damn thing and they're doing it not to people who have sold a business and have $1.3 million. No, today's crooks are doing it to people making $10 an hour (if they're lucky). And they don't need the corrupt government of Antigua to help them out, because they've got the corrupt government of the US to do just as nicely.

Fuck 'em. Fuck 'em all.

They have no empathy - it's all about them - and yes they are narcissistic sociopaths.

Fuck 'em. Fuck 'em all.

Perhaps if Texans weren't so easily enthralled by even the most transparent confidence men, they would not be the nation's leading supplier of bullshit.
