It does occur to me that it was just a few years ago that he was declared the fittest man in the universe, a remarkable specimen of health.

My neighbor just had this procedure done, but he's had health problems for years (Type 1 diabetes, and a stroke when he was 60 or so). Being of a similar age to GW (I'm about four years younger), I do know that things start to fall apart pretty quickly after age 60, sometimes surprising the best of us. But I must say I never bought that "fittest man in the universe" stuff.
