It is a privilege denied many.
A thought for the day, told to me by a friend.
I think I completely agree.

I wish that I would fade faster to keep pace with my wrinkling and the number of aching joints I have.

(12,081 posts)about these past few years. I can still smile though. Something I've noticed about older people with wrinkles. If they are smiling and have laughter in their eyes you just want to be around them.

(37,364 posts)it had been some time since I had been without aches and pains. Once in a while I consider going to a doctor about it but have a feeling that I will just be told that its due to aging.

Younger I tried to escape that, tried to "change" time and circumstance.
Now I accept the thought, embrace it.

(22,271 posts)Well, not the stuff with the body but I love all the stuff with the mind. For some reason it sort of all has coalesced in my 50's and I think I finally have it pretty much figured out. I'm as poor as I ever was but am also the happiest I've ever been.

(14,337 posts)who never made it to my age (65). Some died far, far too young. Some died fighting for this country in Nam. They did not live long enough to marry, have children, see their children grow up, marry, and have children of their own.
I think the hardest for me is to realize that I am now older than my Dad was (62) when he passed away. I haven't exactly lived my life doing everything doctors say is "healthy" for you, but I have made it. Why? I cannot say, but there must be a reason why. Maybe in the grand plan my work isn't finished yet?

My mom is 97, and I'm not completely convinced I really
want to live that long, but still ...
one never knows, until the time comes to know.
I never thought I'd "get old" in the first place, and part of
me still doesn't. funny that.
