Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II, NC-NAACP President/Leader of Moral Mondays to be Honored in DC
From "Campaign for America's Future" ie: ourfuture.org:
Exciting news: Last week, I heard from Rev. William Barber II, who has agreed to let us honor him and the North Carolina Moral Monday Movement that he leads.
Rev. Barber emailed from last Mondays march and Mass Social Justice Interfaith Rally he helped organize in Raleigh. That was the latest of a series of protests, involving 926 nonviolent arrests, against a Republican state legislature that imposed harsh cuts to public education, shifted tax dollars to private-school vouchers, cut unemployment and Medicaid benefits, imposed flat tax rate benefiting corporations and the states top earners, while also hiking taxes for some of more modest means.
Rev. Barber replied to our invitation: Yes. I accept on behalf of all the people of North Carolina who believe in justice.
Please make sure you get to meet and honor this inspiring leader along with our previously announced honorees Margery Tabankin and Leo Gerard on November 6.
