... not losing is a big concern.

And funny thing about war these days: you lose the day you enter it. Blow some stuff up, kill 1000s, waste untold national treasure ... and for what? Gain territory? Nope. Seize treasure? Nope. Eliminate a legitimate threat to the USA? Give me a break.

So we kill, and lose some of our own, for a time ... until we get tired of all the death, and leave.

I like having an awesome military, since none would dare invade.

I hate having an awesome military, since we too often seek military "solutions" to problems best solved diplomatically ... at the expense of life and limb, and our economic security.

Ergo, War = Stooooooooopid. EOS
