So this may explain the militarization of our police force in America. Maybe trying to rectify the cause of the protests would be wiser.

argues that for the last quarter millennium or so, revolutions have consisted above all of planetwide transformations of political common sense.

David Graeber wrote a an excellent piece about the history of revolutions, a key point being:

The preemptive attitude toward social movements is clearly a part of it; under no conditions can alternatives, or anyone proposing alternatives, be seen to experience success.
This helps explain the almost unimaginable investment in “security systems” of one sort or another: the fact that the United States, which lacks any major rival, spends more on its military and intelligence than it did during the Cold War, along with the almost dazzling accumulation of private security agencies, intelligence agencies, militarized police, guards, and mercenaries

But, isn't it interesting to see the pattern of protests as they spread over the globe in the last few years.

I think lots of people of DU today were too young to remember how 1964/ 1968 felt, and the years following when the mass protests did not stop. One incident after another triggered more and more people to speak out and demonstrate.
That is what I am seeing from the time elapse at the site.
