'Faith-Healing' Parents To Be Charged With Murder (son got pneumonia and they tried to pray it away)

This isn't the first time for these parents. Another one of their kids died 4 years ago when they tried to pray away his pneumonia.

By MARYCLAIRE DALE 08/07/13 01:16 PM ET EDT

PHILADELPHIA — A judge refused to dismiss murder charges Wednesday against a fundamentalist Christian in the faith-healing death of his son, saying things might be different if another one of his children's deaths hadn't landed him and his wife in court four years ago.

Their probation in that case required Herbert and Catherine Schaible to seek immediate medical help if another child was sick or injured. But the Schaibles instead sat and prayed over 8-month-old son Brandon before he died of pneumonia in April, according to their statements to police.

Defense lawyer Bobby Hoof argued that Brandon died just three days after he became ill, and said there was no evidence of malice, as required for a third-degree murder charge. The judge disagreed.

"They learned in the worst possible way ... exactly what these symptoms could lead to in a child, especially a young child, if not medically cared for," Common Pleas Judge Benjamin Lerner said, referring to the 2009 death of 2-year-old Kent Schaible. "We've been here before ... under strikingly similar circumstances."

Because of required medicine to heal our nation, there are large swaths of people that belive they can pray our nation back to health.

Here is an example of what the faith community will do to our nation.

monsters.

One thing I wish reporters would do in stories such as this one is investigate more deeply to see if the parents themselves ever went to a doctor, dentist, optician, etc. Also, are they taking any prescription medicines? If so, this is doubly monstrous.

toward all others' lives is a hallmark of modern libertarian bullshit. Selfish, sick people. Poor kids.

care for a sick baby. You can pray over him at the Doctor's office or the hospital bed
and when he's better you can take him to the fundamental place and all there can declare a miracle.

Once you live through the death of a child, you would cut off your right arm to save any of your other children. I don't see how you could go through that again and do the exact same thing. I would rip of my own face in despair. I know some Jehova's witnesses who left their organization because their child needed blood transfusions and the church did not allow members to get them. They still love god and believe that god sent the technology to the doctors to save their child. They found another way to praise The Lord and love and care for their children at the same time. I think they made the right choice.

I'm guessing that neither are they--it doesn't say in my Bible to let children die when you can do otherwise. It's perfectly possible to pray while getting medical attention.

I hope they also do something like this to anti-vaxxer parents that have kids who die from diseases that can be prevented with shots.
