"Why, thirty-nine years ago today. . . ." Please come CAPTION Richard Nixon!!!

Richard (the III) Milhouse Nixon is saying: ""It's only because my administration was so effectual and honest that, effective at five o'clock tonight, I will resign office. . . . Basically, I've taken care of everything I had hoped to do, and Gerald Ford can easily do the mopping up. . . . The people have come together as I promised, and now I want to be among them. . . . It's a simple as that."

"You will never see a moderate Republican in office again. I'm out due to a cheap bumbled burglary attempt which will eventually seem trivial. Just wait for Iran-Contra, asleep at the switch Presidency that allows terrorists to fly planes into buildings, unpaid wars, huge Republican created deficits, deregulation....oh and if you think me creating the EPA was bad? Just wait for the NSA! And none of these guys will ever get impeached, save for one President who got a blow job.

Yeah, I was an asshole, but the Republican Party will redefine that term in the coming decades"

Yeah...he should of said that.

In addition to the scandals that brough him down, he was a TERRIBLE president.

Tens of millions of GOOD jobs were lost due to his screwing around in the Middle East!

Forty years ago this fall was the Arab oil boycott that caused the loss of tens of millions of jobs in American manufacturing. These jobs allowed people without college degrees to have great middle-class lives, take vacations and send their kids to college. Tricky Dick ended that.

His man-crush on the Shah of Iran was already causing oil prices to spike and arguably gave Israel's neighbors the cash and boldness to attack in the fall of 1973. When Israel said they needed more weapons, Nixon stepped up and helped. Many Americans doubted that Israel needed those weapons but Israel really wanted America to get involved. A good American president would have done a much better job of handling this crisis. The oil boycott lasted just six months but the damage was permanent. Interestingly, Kissinger arranged for Saudi oil to be sent to support the Vietnam war while Amerians stood in line for gas.

The whole fiasco was a crock and Nixon was the worst president ever, behind George W. Bush.
