"Big Brother" contestant Spencer Clawson just learned a valuable lesson about child porn ... don't even joke about that crap ... because cops will go after you.
In case you didn't see the clips from this week -- Clawson grabs the microphone attached to McRae (another houseguest) and while pretending to be McRae, Spencer goes off on this really uncomfortable riff about child porn, saying, "I like to beat off to child porn. Did I ever tell y'all about that? I love it. Beating off to child porn is my favorite thing there is."
You'd think he'd stop there, but no ... he kept going, saying, "I love it when they're around three or four years old. My favorite ones are when you can tell they're in a basement."
And the jokes didn't go unnoticed ... especially by Spencer's hometown police in Arkansas.

Can "reality" TV go any lower than this?

(5,946 posts)Big Brother is not the same game as when evil Will was there - now it seems to be populated by evil idiots. Like the guy who apparently forgot the cameras were on and jokingly threatened another cast member with a knife. This year (from what I hear, don't watch for years now) racism is the big thing reflecting how open racism is acceptable in some circles today.
Lots of time there is a bit of truth in humor - even though the person doesn't realize it about themselves.

(271 posts)I feel that telling jokes in a public place is bad because there is no telling who will be offended by something you say.
gone are the days of telling a joke without someone being offended and wanting you to pay for what you have done.

(13,986 posts)"What do you call a nigger in a tree full of monkeys? Branch manager."
"What do you call a Mexican on a bridge? Spic and Span."
These jokes used to be common. Are you saying that everything is OK to joke about? Infanticide? Religious persecution? Racism? Sex crimes?
I disagree. These jokes were never OK, and it is a mark of societal evolution that people now recognize it. And to see a DUer harkening back to the days when these topics were fair game as some sort of halcyon era is a disturbing thing to read.

(271 posts)I do not agree with them.
My point was that no matter the joke someone will find a way to take offense to it.
I've never even heard those jokes you said.

(13,986 posts)...and harkened back to the old days. Quote: "gone are the days of telling a joke without someone being offended and wanting you to pay for what you have done". I am not the only person who took your post as meaning such. It is what you said, in your own words.
Instead of arguing with everyone, try getting your message clear next time.
Or admit that is what you meant.

(2,914 posts)Really? You think that might be a possibility?
Do you think people who tell child porn jokes should be "looked into as a bad person" ? Would it be better if it was like the old days and you could joke about child porn " without someone being offended and wanting you to pay for what you have done."

(271 posts)I didn't mean is any way the Child Porn is funny or should be joked about.
I meant that people tell jokes that others take offense to. WHATEVER IT IS!
someone will always be offended by something you say.
SalviaBlue
(2,914 posts)what you said implies that a joke about child porn is just like any other joke that "people" will be offended by.
Even in your explanation you are diminishing the joke about child porn by saying that "someone will always be offended by something you say." It makes all thing equal; whereas, we think jokes about child porn are worse than other jokes.

(4,876 posts)you are railing about. This thread is about specific comment on a specific show made by a specific person. You chose to change the topic and make it about political correctness. And now you can't figure out why you are getting blowback?
I actually agree with some of what you say, we as a country are a little too "politically correct", but that has nothing to do with this thread.
And that show, I watched it last night for the first.. and last time. The level of narcissism, self righteousness, rudeness, and blatant racism is beyond anything I have ever witnessed on TV. It reminded me why I only watch a couple of things on TV..

(114,904 posts)Yes, those poor, poor happy jokester few, the perverted, the the pathetic and the clueless.
Speaking of clueless, that brings me back round to you. That cretin wasn't telling a joke. I suggest you look up 'joke' in the dictionary. He was joking around about engaging in viewing child porn. Neither the former or the latter ever been acceptable. As in never.
If you are going to tell bigoted or foul jokes; yeah people will be offended. Shocker to certain vile people. No, most people don't want to make you pay, dear. They just want you to go the the fuck away. Clear?
