By Abby Livingston Posted at 6 a.m. today
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee plans to target 17 House Republicans with a grass-roots push over the August recess, according to an internal party email obtained by CQ Roll Call.
On Monday, a DCCC aide sent a message to an email list sponsored by Americans United for Change, a liberal organization, describing the committees plans for the month-long break and including the warning, please do not share this list with press.
In the majority of these districts we have field staffers on the ground, coordinated through the respective state parties, to define and hold accountable vulnerable Republican incumbents, through earned media tactics, messaging amplification, and community outreach, wrote Ryan Daniels, the deputy national press secretary and African-American media adviser.
The DCCCs list includes some of this cycles most-often mentioned vulnerable Republicans, but there are some lesser-known targets as well:
#AR01: Rep. Rick Crawford
#AR02: Rep. Tim Griffin
#CA10: Rep. Jeff Denham
#CA21: Rep. David Valadao
#CO06: Rep. Mike Coffman
#IA03: Rep. Tom Latham
#IL13: Rep. Rodney Davis
#MN02: Rep. John Kline
#MN03: Rep. Erik Paulsen
#MI07: Rep. Tim Walberg
#MI11: Rep. Kerry Bentivolio
#NE02: Rep. Lee Terry
#NJ02: Rep. Frank A. LoBiondo
#NJ03: Rep. Jon Runyan
#NY11: Rep. Michael G. Grimm
#NY23: Rep. Tom Reed
#PA08: Rep. Michael G. Fitzpatrick
#AR02: Rep. Tim Griffin
#CA10: Rep. Jeff Denham
#CA21: Rep. David Valadao
#CO06: Rep. Mike Coffman
#IA03: Rep. Tom Latham
#IL13: Rep. Rodney Davis
#MN02: Rep. John Kline
#MN03: Rep. Erik Paulsen
#MI07: Rep. Tim Walberg
#MI11: Rep. Kerry Bentivolio
#NE02: Rep. Lee Terry
#NJ02: Rep. Frank A. LoBiondo
#NJ03: Rep. Jon Runyan
#NY11: Rep. Michael G. Grimm
#NY23: Rep. Tom Reed
#PA08: Rep. Michael G. Fitzpatrick
I know that weve shared information regarding events these members are holding and well continue to share information in the future, as we get it, Daniels continued in his email. Additionally, if you have resources on the ground in any of these target districts, Id love to put them in touch with our staffers on the ground as well, so we can coordinate efforts.
Democrats face a tough task this cycle in their quest for the majority. They must pick up 17 seats to take the speakers gavel, but the number of competitive races this cycle is much smaller than in previous years. Still, the committee plans to target dozens of Republicans throughout the fall and this cycle.
The more voters learn about how this obstructionist Republican Congress is decimating the middle class, jobs and the economy, the more they want a change, said DCCC spokeswoman Emily Bittner when asked for comment about the list. Were putting Republicans on defense, deep into their own territory, using every tool in the tool box to make sure voters know the real record of this broken Republican Congress.

Hernández was selected by NASA as an astronaut candidate in May 2004. In February 2006 he completed Astronaut Candidate Training that included scientific and technical briefings, intensive instruction in Shuttle and International Space Station systems, physiological training, T-38 flight training, and water and wilderness survival training. On completing this initial training, Hernández was assigned to the Shuttle Branch to support Kennedy Space Center Operations in support of Shuttle launch and landing preparations.
In May 2007 Hernández served as an aquanaut during the NEEMO 12 mission aboard the Aquarius underwater laboratory, living and working underwater for eleven days.[10]
Hernández worked various technical assignments until his selection on July 15, 2008, as a mission specialist on the STS-128 mission, which launched on August 28, 2009. While in orbit, Hernandez became the first person to use the Spanish language in space while tweeting
