The widest reaching ad in history?

The Google search home page, usually austerely blank, now features this:

Not saying it's good or bad... it's their site and they can put whatever they want on it... but when I first saw it I wondered whether it is the farthest reaching single ad ever. Is number of people seeing the Google main search page in a day bigger than a super-bowl audience, or the global audience for Times Square New Years Eve coverage? (I am thinking of the billboards in Times Square.)

I don't know.

I thought it an interesting question.

Robert Heinlein's idea, in THE MAN WHO SOLD THE MOON, of using missiles with soot-bombs to paint the face of the moon with a corporate logo would top this, of course.

1. Employee number 20 (Marissa Mayer), was dead set against ads on Google's home page.

This is why although she was one of the most innovative Google people, the sexist leadership diminished her relevance, until she finally left to run Yahoo.

Google Sucks.

3. New Nexus 7 plagued by GPS glitch

Many owners are complaining that the GPS signal dies after a certain number of minutes, a problem apparently confirmed by Google.

Google's new Nexus 7 isn't playing well with GPS, according to a host of comments at several online discussion forums.

New Nexus 7 owners chiming in on Google Groups, the XDA Developers forum, and Android Central forums all describe a similar problem.

The GPS signal works for a certain amount of time, anywhere from 2 to 30 minutes, and then it simply conks out, leaving the user without a connection. The Nexus then tries to hunt for a signal without any success. Rebooting the tablet seems to restore GPS, but then the pattern repeats itself with the signal again dying out after several minutes.

Google is only good for one thing: Delivering boner pill ads.

1 minute feel good ad as opposed to those endless insurance ads with that freakin' gecko and that nutty woman, Flo. It seems like insurance companies are at war. It seems like I see their ads more than any other.

And I loved it too. I had no idea of the meaning at the time. It was WAY ahead of it's time in terms of diversity.

10. I love Flo because she's not hot, not young, and is now rich.

I'd never get anything from Progressive, but it's always nice when one of the not-so-beautiful people hits the lottery.

that landed the white grapes part for the Fruit of the Loom spots. It changed his life forever. One day he was literally bumming drinks and spare change from us to eat, and the next his agent fronted him $10K to tide him over till his first check came in. It really is so cool.
