(Reuters) - A fireworks vendor from Washington state is accused of strapping a homemade bomb to a dog's neck and detonating it and will face animal cruelty and explosives charges, prosecutors said on Thursday.

Christopher Dillingham, 45, was arrested early Sunday morning at his home in the small town of Stevenson on suspicion of having killed his daughter's yellow Labrador Retriever with an explosive device.

According to charging documents, Dillingham told Skamania County sheriff's deputies that he believed the dog "had the devil in it."

Prosecutors on Monday charged Dillingham with one felony count of possession of a bomb with intent to use it for an unlawful purpose and two gross misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment. The charges carry a maximum of 20 years in prison.

to have brought in a priest. No one has ever believed that blowing off the head of a possessed animal cured anything.

"To the pinhead bastard who ran over my dog and left her to die on the road...." I recall the sign ended with a rather colorful curse. Nailed on a tree at the side of the road. There are weird folks that roam the forest primeval in these here parts.

that bodes ill for domestic animals. From horses to dogs, none seem to be safe.
But to be honest, I have heard of Chihuahua possession but never possession in a Golden Lab (except, of course, Old Yeller). How was the "possession" manifest? Constant tail-wagging? Licking people in the face?
I guess I once knew a lab with flatulence. Maybe that was the indicator?
