Harry Reid: I hope GOP opposition to Obama is not because he's black http://bit.ly/16A3iM9

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) told KNPR radio Friday that he hopes Republicans' ongoing opposition to President Obama is driven by "substance" and not race.

"It's been obvious that they're doing everything they can to make him fail," Reid said. "And I hope, I hope -- and I say this seriously -- I hope that's based on substance and not the fact that he's African-American."

The majority leader said Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is continuing his first-term strategy to make sure Obama fails.

National Republican Senatorial Committee spokesman Brad Dayspring immediately called Reid's remarks "offensive" and "insane."

The teapublicans have been openly and proudly displaying their racism since he originally got the nod.

And that is EXACTLY it Senator Reid. For many of the racists in the GOP, blocking everything Obama does is their mission in life. Just because of his skin color.

...it's because their subconscious tells them 'he's not like us'. Yes, technically, that means it's because he's black. I honestly think many of them believe they aren't racist, but deep inside, they just can't help themselves. I've talked to a lot of Reps/Cons to figure this out. They don't make outwardly racist comments, but the comments they make are 'odd'. It isn't about policies or how he's doing his job. It's 'he's different'. They feel the need to attach any label they can to him, but none really make sense. They do everything possible to put him into a different category. I understand that they'll do this with any Democrat, but what raises the flag is, they try to convince me that he's 'different', 'not like us'. And, normally, they have this look of total fear on their faces. One of the biggest flags was when I'm told, "You only voted for him because he's black." I'm white. It's the 21st century version of being called a 'n***** lover'.

To be fair, I've seen a couple of them come to terms with their own internal racism and do their best to get over it. One friend in particular is going through a very open thought process on FB with his little journey. A few of his fellow Rep/Con friends seem pretty involved in the conversation in a positive way. I'm pretty proud of him. Next, maybe he'll start believing in climate change.

But, there are others that leave no doubt that it's because he's black and they're racist/bigoted pigs that shouldn't be allowed in public office. When you openly promote/share racist/bigoted 'jokes' it should be an immediate dismissal from your office. No votes. No impeachments. No second chances. You can not treat all of your constituents fairly when you see a portion of them as less than equal. If you accept donations from 'white rights/supremacist' groups, same thing but with an added bonus of being on a terrorist watch list.
