After winning the Super Bowl (he was MVP) he supported the union protests in Madison, WI. Gov. Scott Walker threw a tantrum about it.

First example:

Major sports athlete. Is supported by deals with municipalities which are rubber stamped and passed on through sales and property taxes. We have had such votes to stop the owners profting in this way on unneeded stadiums that would help their private bottom line.

But they kept on going until they did it behind our backs. We still pay, even though among us who could never afford to go to a game. Overall, this is about the greed of the owners and not the players, who are shuffled like baseball cards.

Those who pay to attend, also pay voluntarily, part of the salary of the athlete in your picture. And they do need to make a lot of money, as they get injured and crippled, don't have long work lives.

Like construction workers and many first responders, who cannot work their entire life with what they go through on the job. But those other groups don't have the PR or political clout that major league sports has. In fact, they are the whipping posts of society nowadays.

Second example:

Which is in no way the fault of the first group, unless they vote against them. And we will never know such a thing.

Teaching is a profession that has largely been considered 'woman's work,' along with other social institutions like nursing and child care. Society acts like their work is make work, not essential, something that could be done at home.

That is a major portion of the problem, as the right wing belief system that they should be at home. They even say women working outside the home is a luxury that can no longer be afforded.

We've seen the home school groups, and the private homes where stay at home moms that take care of their and other kids, their elderly and disabled.

Unless they are doing it for others, they are paid nothing, and the capital expenditure of a place for these activities is made by the working man, or so say conservatives. No tax money needed, in fact, stop paying any to live better at home.

And it's in File 13 as far as the media is concerned, except to reinforce the idea that it is god's plan or whatever. The media daily attacks all things that are paid for by tax dollars, except sports or anything privately owned. It is prohibited for media to speak against capital.

And as far as voting, we don't vote on the first very much as I explained. But on the second, we are presented frequented with levies and tax increases. Where I live, it's detailed to the level of whether a school nurse, a computer lab or some other part of education to be approved. Or voted down at the whim of the public, which makes public work that is transparent and out in open, unlike waivers and tax breaks for businesses that just go into the levy and are forgotten.

Until there is an alleged revenue shortage, always blamed on the people whose needs are met by disdained public workers. The team owners have their profits written in long-term levies and are not forced to beg over and over as teachers and schools are, so their advantge is forgotten.

With non-stop media propaganda at work, it makes each levy for police, fire and schools a toss up. Then there's the decades of hatred toward teacher unions. They have always been regarded as wanting too much money and not caring. As if they could do all that work in their homes, as mothers, huh?

The other attacks on the public schools are based on teaching science and not religious views, the move to stop bullying against gays as promoting 'teh gay,' and teaching socialism, dependent on government. Since they say all unions are a form of socialism, anyway. Add alternative media talking about how we are turning our kids over to the police state at school. And of course, the police must be removed from the new society being promoted to save us.

These are the differences in my experience. That we will give anything to faux gladiatorial games, as long as theyentertain the masses and then be discarded. And nothing to the fields that are seen as feminine.

It is no coincidence that Ohama's feminist agenda is associated with being godless and socialist, as they see the 'village' that schools represent as evil. As far as the warrior class, anything goes.

Not well stated, but that is why it is happening, IMO. The police and fire service are also being called evil and unnecessary, like the schools and health care and social safety net. But we must keep on training those fighters and have guns to protect us from evil government.

Just sayin'

Apply liberally as needed. But please do think about why this is happening. It's bigger than just one union or another, and I have tried to answer the question as best I can.

I am in favor of FAPE in all ways as the way to move our country forward and promote unity but am in the minority IRL. At least DU supports these things, or many do. Some just want it all gone.
