Monsters! Girl who was punished with boiling water released from hospital

A 6-year-old St. Cloud girl who was burned with boiling water as a punishment was released from the hospital Saturday — the same day a judge refused to set bail for her mother.

Yadzia Morales, 32, remained at the Osceola County Jail on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated child abuse and child neglect with great bodily harm.

Her boyfriend, Roberto Lopez, 20, was released Friday night on $8,000 bail. He was arrested on the same charges.

Police say the couple caused second-degree burns on the child's back, shoulder, scalp and face on Tuesday when they heated water in a microwave and poured it over her.

She did not receive medical care until Lopez's mother, who was baby sitting, called police on Wednesday night.
