I am quite bored by the relentless attempts to distract DU'ers from the revelations about the NSA by bashing, smearing and sliming the messengers. I am NOT DISTRACTED AT ALL!
Cheers!

(614 posts)I am however thoroughly disgusted by these poorly veiled attempts at stifling dissent. Clearly we have no small amount of authoritarians here on DU.

(12,482 posts)is that why you came here? you thought it would be a kick-ass anti-Obama echo chamber where you wouldn't be stifled by people who disagree with you?

(614 posts)I came here to find comradery among fellow liberals. Liberals who maintain their principals even if their own representative does not. Liberals who don't maintain double standards. And to be sure I have found such a comradery on many occasions here. Unfortunately I have also found this website is filled with pseudo liberals who don't much care about our privacy or our liberty as long as it is a democratic administration who is abusing that privacy/liberty.

(614 posts)Genuine liberals outnumber the DINOS, despite the impression a person might get on how vocal the latter are. I appreciate the sentiment though.

(9,610 posts)DU looks like a whole different place than the last week. My mood is improving. I am feeling better about things. Amazing how a few posters can make it so awful. But, I was taking the bait. Not any more, straight to the trash can with those posts.

(62,325 posts)think this is going to change anyone's mind?
How about they just defend THEIR position, who knows, maybe that might change a few minds, but to see the desperation of these ever growing smear campaigns against ANYONE who dares to express an opinion they don't want to have out there, is almost comical at this point.

(40,366 posts)'fellow DUers'. When W was pres. Rush and the like would constantly call us haters to dismiss your criticism. They didnt post at DU of course, so being called a "hater" right here is somewhat of a novelty. These folks seem to be clueless of liberal values.

(11,495 posts)I wouldn't call them "bashers", simply people who actually use facts to prove their points and post links to back those facts. I have no problem with anyone that can show me the facts and not just post crap over and over and never back up what they are claiming.

Those who work to distract, derail, and denigrate those who want the truth to be told are as un-democratic as Karl Rove.

(84,711 posts)their political loyalties.. And, to see them speak out recently showed the character of those who took that step.
It was never about trashing POB...it was about trying to make him honor his promises and in the first 6 months after Re-election to his Second Term..it's more important than ever to steer him back to the principles we thought he ran on. Whether (as some say) we didn't realize what we were voting for...I take exception to that. We were not naive. We were pragmatic in that we had no other choice and felt he was the best. But, he did make promises beyond what some tell us were " You Should have Known he was a Reagan Republican" and that we expected something he never offered. He did offer enough , however, which he hasn't honored.
So...there's differences there. But Democratic Core Values are what I'm seeing folks returning to here. And that's what we could hope for going forward.. imho.

(4,062 posts)Just got told that this was ALL debated openly in Congress and THE TRANSCRIPTS ARE ALL THERE so it's our fault for not being mad about this a year ago.
Followed by a bunch of irrelevant links to any intelligence discussions in congress, of which five led to Wyden trying to warn people and DiFi putting him down.

(4,062 posts)it was a lazy (and botched) cut and paste lifted entirely from the Federation of American Scientists section on intelligence activities in congress.
And used out of context, the volume supposedly illustrating that this was all discussed and we were idiots for not noticing it.

(4,906 posts)to accept participation in the dialogue that needs to occur. It just makes the DU site less relevant so I find myself searching other places for info...and not participating here as much. it's boring to see the same posters over and over with the same message here while the rest of the world gets it . .other than those with something to hide within our govt. I'm more interested in the solutions rather than the gossipers and Obama walks on water crowd. He doesn't. ..we Americans have a big problem to deal with and how we do it is important NOW.. I'm interested in the duers who care enough to present solutions and actions we can support and people to learn from, etc, etc.. I've got a lot on ignore but I usually don't log in from my laptop so I see the nonsense and it always makes my blood boil and like I am wasting my time.

(502 posts)I've always been perplexed by a small group that didn't seem very interested in Democratic values, I found out this morning that one of them was a longtime former freeper. I couldn't care less about the opinions of former freepers and those that associate themselves with their comments. As Catherina says, talk to the hand.
