It is more important than Snowden in that it incorporates a centerpiece strategy of a Presidential administration.

Thus further creating a folk hero. The Mt. Rushmore touch perpetuates the legend.

Squeezing jello. The harder you squeeze, the more it oozes between your fingers.

If he is brought back, I expect martyrdom status. All because a few folks try so desperately hard to divert attention from the surveillance state.

Aug 2013

I'm in my mid 40's. I've been a liberal and a registered Democrat all of my adult life. I'm now at a point where I'm completely immune to protestations, haranguing, and browbeating. No one can MAKE me like what I don't like. No one can make me support a man I feel has burned a lot of people. No one can guilt me with the premise of a Supreme Court with Ted Nugent at its head. No one can tell me that the shit I'm smelling is actually roses. No one can push me into a voting booth, and no one can sway me by telling me I'm part of the problem if I don't vote. I can be, and I am motivated when I feel like my President is being honest with me, when I feel like the same things that are important to me are also important to the President. I don't think I'm alone in feeling this way.

I also believe that some of the "cheerleaders" understand this, and they've moved from attempted strong arm persuasion to plain old jeering and stick-poking. Have you noticed that in some circles, it's now fashionable to reply to Obama criticism with a reminder that you still have 3.5 years of Obama remaining, or that if you don't like this or that, don't vote for Obama next time around (insert laugh)? Personally, I'm in no rush to escort Obama out the door; my interest is in the changing tactics of the Obama-can-do-no-wrong crowd, from attempted persuasion to something a little less constructive and a little more desperate.

I'm relieved that I don't feel the sense of powerlessness these people must feel when there's nothing they can do to keep this thing from slipping through their fingers. Following a cult of personality will burn someone every time. Thanks.

Frankly, I am not sure what it is you are trying to accomplish. You are not going to bring me along to understand and respect your point of view by being such a boor.
