(57,936 posts)I think that the theme of the disparity of wealth is something that most Americans understand.
I remember what it was like in the 1950s and 1960s. Nixon ended the relative fairness in the distribution of wealth. There were poor people. There were slums. But there was a very large middle class that does not exist any more.

(53,475 posts)... political message was too subtle for conservatives to understand, although I did really like it that the wealthy spoke French, since the 1% have taught their minions to hate the French.

Despite the overt allusions to class warfare and a focus on a tarnished and out-moded socialist narrative of rich-vs-poor, Elysium is primarily about immigration reform and the stalled effort in Congress to pass legislation legalizing millions of illegal aliens. Idealized and romanticized pet liberal causes come in second..... and then he says more blah, blah, blah, blah........
I can't wait to see it.
