(35,015 posts)They attack the other side; those of us who can think and reason - by claiming that "47%" of Americans are illiterate and are somehow less American.
That 47% has become a very useful number for them to play their favorite game of projection; Republicans associate the number with Democrats.
I've read that comment and that 47% are white trash just in the past couple of days.

(611 posts)There's a weird duality about the Republicans and their larger movement. There's definitely a lot of stupidity on display, but the people behind the scenes, who formulate strategies and tactics, seem to show a certain villainous brilliance. Too often, for my taste. I think we may make a mistake to assume the entire movement is doomed by the stupidity we see. They seem to have some Lex Luthors behind the curtain.
