Student faces years in prison for college massacre "joke"

A 20-year-old college student in Georgia has spent the past six months in jail—and could spend up to five years—for making what he considers "an experimental literary piece and art project" to his personal Tumblr.

The "literary piece" Caleb Clemmons speaks to was actually somewhat concerning: He announced on the blogging platform that he planned to open fire on staff and fellow students at Georgia Southern University.

"hello. my name is irenigg and i plan on shooting up georgia southern," he posted on Feb. 8. "pass this around to see the affect it has. to see if i get arrested."

He did.

Do they give out Bachelor of Stupid degrees in this day and age?

I'd give him time just for not capitalilzing at the beginning of sentences. Gregorian Aug 2013 #1
Apparently he does not know what a capital is. appleannie1 Aug 2013 #2

Maybe next time he can do some performance art in an airport by shouting, "I have a bomb."

They've almost got enough (10%) to go to bondsman and get him out of jail.

It is not funny or stupid for someone to say they are going to shoot up a college. It is serious business! There is some bad stuff going in this student's mind. He needs a mental evaluation to see if he is dangerous. Remember all the shooters like the one that shot Gabby Giffords in Arizona and the one in Aurora Colorado had the same kind of thoughts, just didn't act out on them until they had escalated beyond threats and into actually shooting to kill people.
