By Brian Fung, Published: July 31
Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) lashed out this morning at the lack of transparency surrounding the collection of Americans phone records. Speaking at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Franken blasted top intelligence officials for delays in declassifying secret government documents authorizing the program.
I dont want transparency only when its convenient to the government, Franken said. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence, he added, has known for weeks that this hearing was coming and ODNI released this only in the minutes before this hearing began. That doesnt engender trust.
Franken vowed to introduce new legislation that would force the Obama administration to reveal more about the NSAs controversial bulk surveillance programs.

I hope I didn't break any rules by posting something about Franken that is less than two months old.

That it is even possible to make that analogy against my beloved county makes me sick to my stomache.
That's what makes a lot of Americans sick to their souls.
But you go ahead, and be "upset" by an internet post that sees things differently than you.
Yeah, next thing you know you'll have the anti-American urge to silience your critics, too.
and so it goes...
