(8,244 posts)I hope someday we can be as free as Sweden when it comes to sidewalk chalking
In the US we people can get arrested for chalking on the street.

(26,060 posts)That's the Russian embassy in Stockholm. That would get you arrested in Russia.

Sorry, the thread is about a creative protest in front of an embassy.
I went off on a tangent and started talking about sidewalk chalking, which is not the main point of the thread.
My bad. Personally traumatized after seeing my friend arrested for drawing a flower on the sidewalk with washable chalk.
All's good in the hood

(26,060 posts)when we used chalk for hop scotch. This is a much more creative and wonderful use for it although I was damn good at hop scotch.

(22,541 posts)it's a crime, as well.
I think it's much nicer painted this way and it certainly has the meaning I would like to send to the Russians. Well, actually, I'd prefer to spit in Putin's face. But this will do. As will the naked guys who walked back and forth across it. Back and forth, back and forth. For quite a long time. I'd imagine that pissed the Russians off. Good.

But you know, most places do have laws about painting traffic signs. But this is just a crosswalk. Nobody changed the speed limit. Or messed with traffic lights.

(7,968 posts)athletes who attempt to display it will be sanctioned by the IOC. Subtle displays as well as overt displays will be sanctioned and there will be a big controversy. If I would going to the Olympics I would consider having a rainbow tatooed somewhere conspicuous so that anytime I was on camera it would be seen. That seems like something they couldn't stop.

(26,060 posts)for the uniforms, wouldn't it be wonderful if they could incorporate the rainbow into the US uniforms somehow. A patch or something.
Igel
(35,197 posts)we could have them wear crosses. And whatever Scientologists use as a symbol.
Let's not even think what should be on the uniforms if we decide to protest limits on free speech as seen in the Pussy Riot sentences.

(45,319 posts)the Orthodox Church just as anti gay laws in the US are paid for and pushed by RCC and LDS. To claim they are 'repressed' is a foul bit of misinformation.

(7,318 posts)rainbow pattern by grouping atheletes together by the color of their uniforms, as often as they can, when they are spectators at Olympic events. Sort of like a flashmob.
