but they usually didn't go to Gitmo. Generally they went to nations with not many qualms about individual rights and shit.

To be sure, the USA didn't have any qualms about individual rights and shit - but it still likes to make a show of it. At least, when not firing hellfire missiles into village centers.

it's about the newsweek article that said the Koran was abused and caused violent protests in 2005, they had to retract it.

I am just putting into my intro how Gitmo came to be, but it's interesting that most of these guys weren't brought in under rendition, it wasn't discovered till 2006 that most of them were handed over for money by their own countrymen, usually as bargaining chips. But still I wonder how real those charges are either...

Here's a story I found:

Nobody knows why we've been holding them all these years. You've read about the force feeding, to keep them from starving themselves to death?

I am seriously pissed at my Govt for its actions in this matter. Not to mention the fact that our Illustrious Obama said he would close the hell hole, and ....yet..... NOTHING

seriously, I am gonna have a hard time writing this and NOT straying from topic! The topic is about Newsweek running the story in 2005 in the first place with only ONE anonymous source, who then backtracked and caused the magazine to retract. However, Gitmo is one of MY personal reasons for deciding my President was NOT fulfilling his 'promises' and I am appalled at their treatment of these poor men.

BTW- I also found another article from 2006 that backed the story from Newsweek, but it got no leverage...gee I wonder why?
