On August 8th, 30 people were arrested at the Solidarity Sing Along in the Wisconsin State Capitol. The arrestees were detained in the basement of the Capitol - sadly, in the old cafeteria that used to be used to feed the homeless. As I said the day it happened - what do you get when you arrest 30 singers? You get a sing along in the processing room! We could hear it from outside the room, and they could hear the original sing along still going one floor up.
One of the arrestees has obtained a brief video from their time in captivity. Once again, I am moved to tears.
SOLIDARITY, Sisters.
In the past three weeks, there have been well over 200 citations issued to citizens who have been arrested for exercising their First and Fourth Amendment rights in the Wisconsin State Capitol. If you would like to help with the Court costs, please visit http://solidaritysingalong.org
Thank you.

(5,279 posts)A bit out of his jurisdiction eh? Perhaps he thought they were deer, or might be fished at without a license. I know he wasn't protecting them from strip mining, DNR don't protect from strip mining.

(6,622 posts)On days when the Capitol Police expect (hope for?) a lot of action, they call in State Troopers and DNR to help with hauling people off and processing. That way the Capitol Police can focus on arresting as many citizens as possible, and leave the "guard duty" to someone else. Hey, maybe we'll have Dept. of Corrections officers next!
Can you imagine? Sometimes the DNR folks have gone in to work in the morning, fully expecting to spend their day doing their DNR things - out in the woods, at their desks, wherever. But then they find themselves helping to stand guard at the Palace. I have not found ONE who has been happy about this assignment.
