Ohio election officials cover up for illegal voting by police
August 6, 2013
My, my. The coverup starts in the Metro section lead which begins, [Franklin] County election officials say they think a clerical error is to blame for 19 Columbus police officers having their voting addresses listed as the Downtown police headquarters.
Now, if a lower-class black male had used his work address as a voting address, and tried to vote in the inner-city Driving Park area, the headline would have read: Massive voter fraud uncovered in urban inner-city precinct: ACORN is suspected.
It is a fifth-degree felony to intentionally register to vote at your work address instead of your residence. The police might enforce the laws, but it doesnt mean they obey them.

(25,771 posts)who have gone to a great deal of trouble and expense (ours) to gerrymander our voting districts on the basis of where people live. Voting at work could have the effect of undoing all of their hard work.

(34,055 posts)On a small scale, some are very local and impact only one or two stores (Sunday sales of liquor). On a larger scale they impact your representative in the US congress - until the last redistricting, I worked in the region covered by one representative - and lived in the region covered by another. Only residents who pay property taxes directly (as owners) or indirectly (as rengers) get to vote on the taxes they pay. Bottom line, you only get to vote on those issues or candidates associated with where you live. (But, given that Ohio's database is not clean (deceased people are not necessarily removed, people moving are not necessarily un-registered at their old address) - these officers could also fairly easily have been registered and voted in two places - although voting twice would be easy to check out since who voted is publicly available information.)
In this case, these officers would have been voting to impose fire and police levies which pay their salaries, on the residents (owners of property) they serve.
