Towards a more perfect union

I got into a bit of a discussion with someone yesterday about whether we see any evidence that "the arc of history is long, but it bends towards justice." My thought was that it is important every now and then to stand WAY back and assess whether things are staying the same, getting worse or getting better.

Of course that is a really complex question to answer fully. But here is one way of looking at what has happened in my lifetime.

President Eisenhower's Cabinet 1957

President Obama's Cabinet 2012

I thought about this the other day when I saw a picture that I think should be shared with every child growing up in this country.
