OAK BLUFFS - Nancy's Restaurant customers got more than french fries with their lunch this afternoon. President Obama arrived at the well-known island eatery and shook hands with a couple of dozen people waiting to place their order.
The presidential motorcade arrived at the Lake Avenue restaurant shortly after 1 p.m. and Obama hopped out of an SUV, undeterred by a steady rain. He was upbeat and made a point of chit-chatting with customers and restaurant employees as he made his way to the take-out counter.
"I'm just overwhelmed," said Serena Creary of Natick. "I knew he was here (on the island), of course, but I never expected to see him."
Obama greeted manager Doug Abdelnour, owner Joseph Moujabber, and other staff at the takeout window, according to a pool report. After placing his order the president went inside the restaurant and exchanged pleasantries with diners and posed for photos with the restaurant staff.

Obama was alone and ordered a little bit of everything, according to restaurant employees who waited on him. A White House spokesman said Obama's food order included fried shrimp, fried oysters, onion rings and french fries.
About 10 minutes after he arrived, Obama emerged from the restaurant carrying at least one brown bag of food. On his way back to the motorcade, he acknowledged a crowd of people lined up across the street, got into an SUV and the motorcade pulled away and headed to the home of longtime friend and adviser Valerie Jarrett, overlooking Nantucket Sound, according to a pool report.
