(60,010 posts)Just got a notice from Medicare, saying certain diabetic products will not be covered any longer.
That is a direct cut in benefits.
An indirect cut in benefits is the number of medical providers who have decided to not accept Medicare
because the rate of pay is too low, a very obvious reaction to reductions in payments to providers.
Patient will have to pay out of pocket if they want to continue seeing their doctor.

(37,549 posts)the formulary has changed, but you have 18 vendors to choose from, right? Further, your co-pay has gone down.
As for cuts to medical providers, do you currently have a medical provider who has cut you off?

(857 posts)On October 1, 2011 the Obama administration slashed Medicare RUGs (how skilled nursing units get paid for delivering post-hospital rehabilitative care) by an average of 19%. What do we think the immediate actions were by people that run these places? Suck up the loss? No, cut staffing and other expenses they can control.
I am for universal healthcare but let's not act like these cuts are not going to have some impact on care under the current model of healthcare delivery in the US.
