Great explainin' from a small town American

Heard on tonight's "Colbert Report" in a story about a small Kentucky town that passed a LGBT non- discrimination ordinance. The simplest explanation is often the best:

"God...makes you born gay...why is He against it? ... If He is against it, why did He make 'em born that way? I can't understand that. I've tried and tried and tried to understand that and I can't."

I have been to Hazard, which is in Perry County, but not Vicco (although I might have flown over it looking at MTR sites).
