Why doesn’t the GOP just change its name to the KKK?

Let’s face it. The base of today’s Republican Party would be comfortable, not just with Jim Crow, but a return to slavery. And this time, they’d include Latinos, Muslims, and assorted “others.”

I don’t believe this a view held by the majority of Republicans. But the “not crazy” members of that party who, by having kept silent while the crazies took over, are culpable.

Winston Churchill said: “Tyrants ride to and fro on tigers that they dare not dismount.” The sane Republicans who have ridden that tiger into control of the House of Representatives are now screwed. They know how insane their party looks, but they also know how hungry their tiger is. They know that teabaggers, Jesus freaks, Faux “News” and hate radio will combine to primary them out of office in a heartbeat. Such is the price of making a deal with the devil.

It’s easy enough to say “screw them all,” but they’re screwing all of us. They’ve brought social progress and equity to a standstill and they’re not about to relent. The states they’ve gerrymandered are safely in their hands and there’s not a damn thing we can do about it until the next census in 2020.

Given their new voter suppression laws in many states, there’s a possibility that the crazed minority can keep hold of the House and may even take over the Senate. And let’s not kid ourselves about the next presidential election. They can’t win it. But they can steal it.

The power held by today’s Republicans is something that the KKK could only envy.

They would have to pay the KKK for the use if their name! And that costs money that would otherwise be spent paying RW bloggers and the children of RW pols!

They are great at marketing themselves. Bad product, but great marketing strategies.

I have to give them that. They are awful at governing, empathy and such things. Running a business and marketing is not the same as running a government and taking care of people.

They have captured more or less half of the American voting block. They are able to sell things that are ultimately bad to their consumers, and make them ask for more. They are pushers, and know enough to try to improve their brand and build acceptance first before pushing crazier things.

Maybe one day.

However, I don't think they've captured about half of the American voting block. Their voters just turn out more than others. Especially in primaries. (That's why the clown car is filling up again for 2016.)

The last election showed the power of the Dems when they get pissed off and show up at the polls. And I believe that Obama's margine of victory would actually have been much larger if it had not been for the voter suppression tactics, and "lost" and uncounted votes.

Nonetheless, far too many fools consistently cast their votes against their own interests. They are people who can't tell the difference between filet mignon and pig dung.

Too bad Chris Hayes or Rachel Maddow can't flash this on the screen. I doubt if the owner's of MSNBC would allow it.

On the other hand, Fox could always put it up as their "Mission Accomplished" banner.

I don't even think the real traditional GOP is all that racist. They just adopted a not so closeted racist agenda to appeal to racist yahoos. Now they're overrun with them. They are fakes through and through. It's all about power for the rich elites with them. They will do or say anything no matter how low, no matter how despicable, if they think it will scrape together a few more votes for them. To them (the rich elites of the GOP) racism is just a tool to divide people.

Steve King, Lois Gohmert (the idiot from Texas), Rand Paul, and many others of their ilk in the House, the Senate, and in state houses throughout the country, who are true believers.

You almost (almost) have to pity someone like Boehner who is just in it for the power, yet is the total captive of the inmates.

Google the klansman David Duke. He was a state house member in Louisiana who, back when, was in the Republican presidential clown car and ran for the U.S. Senate. He was before his time. If he'd run in the last four or five years, we'd probably have a Senator Duke.
