GOP sees rosy future in blue New England

and yes, this is from the delusional right wing Boston Herald:

Republican hopes for retaking control in Washington, D.C., will rely heavily on a red tide in bluest New England, according to GOP bigwigs, who today are showcasing one of their leading White House hopes — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who doubles as a poster child for breaking the Democratic vise grip.

“You can’t be a national party if you’re not competitive in New England,” Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said yesterday after kicking off the party’s Seaport summer powwow at the Westin Waterfront, where Christie, a moderate Northeastern governor who famously embraced President Obama, is due to speak today.

“We need more red in New England if we’re going to be a serious national party,” Priebus said. “That’s part of being here, too, to show support absolutely (after the marathon bombings), that’s when the decision was made for Boston and New England. But there’s also a longer-term vision that no part of the country should ever be written off, and you have to compete every year.”

Pulling that off in deep-blue New England, party operatives say, will take a louder ground game and a greater social media presence to attract young voters.
